In alignment with NHPS vision of deepening engagement and collective responsibility the Office of Youth, Family, and Community Engagement will have the responsibility to strengthen the resources available for New Haven youth by bringing together schools, community, peers, government, families, and neighbors, and connecting and focusing these separate engagement areas so that they are collective, cumulative, consistent and effective.  The Office will collaborate with disparate departments within NHPS and organizations outside of NHPS, strengthening the network of supports available to youth and community with the ultimate goal of improving student achievement and success in college, career, and life.

Measurable Student Outcomes

  1. Increase reading at grade level particularly students at risk for drop-out;
  2. Reduce chronic absenteeism; and
  3. Reduce exclusionary practices and ensure safe and supportive school climates in each school.
