School Wellness Committees

Through a partnership with Alliance for a Healthier Generation, all NHPS K8 schools participate in the Healthy Schools Program (link) and have school wellness committees which serve to promote healthy behaviors among students and staff, and to create healthy school environments.

The committees are lead by a facilitator who:

• attends AHG trainings;
• assesses the school in 7 areas of the healthy school program;
• works with the committee/school to meet the progressive criteria needed to be recognized as a “healthy school”;
• ensures that the school follows school health/wellness policies and recommendations to create healthier school environments;
• implements school health/wellness initiatives that improve health/wellbeing of students and staff.
